Weili Zhang

Dr. Weili Zhang is currently a Regents Professor and serves as Director of the Graduate Program in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Dr. Zhang received the B.S degree in Laser Science and the Ph.D. degree in Optical Engineering from Tianjin University, China. Prior to joining the faculty at Tianjin University in 1995, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. In 2000, Dr. Zhang joined the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at OSU, where he has held positions as Visiting Associate Professor, tenure-track Associate Professor, and currently, Regents Professor.

 

Dr. Zhang’s research interests include terahertz optoelectronics, nano- and microstructured materials optics, ultrafast phenomena, and semiconductor photonics. His research has been primarily sponsored by the National Science Foundation. He has authored or co-authored over 400 invited and contributed articles in peer-reviewed journals, including 16 papers recognized as Web of Science ESI Highly Cited Papers. He serves as Associate Editor of a number of journals, including Photonics Insights and Research, and as Section Editor-in-Chief of Materials. Dr. Zhang was named a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher from 2019 to 2023. He is the recipient of the 2015 OSU Regents Distinguished Research Award. Dr. Zhang was elected a Fellow of Optica (formerly The Optical Society, OSA) in 2015.
